Hello,

You are receiving this forum notification because you have registered on the Mahara Hui website. With the "This and that" forum, we want to give you the chance to get in touch with us easily and ask questions, provide answers that might be of interest to other attendees of our first Mahara conference in New Zealand as well.

Please let us know if you are missing information on the website or also post if you have a question for the conference attendees.

What needs to be done in the next few weeks?

  • We are starting to review the proposals that have already been submitted. If you did not make last week's deadline, do not fear, you can still submit your proposals until 7 February 2014. But don't wait until the last minute to get it in. ;-)
  • Registration for Mahara Hui is now open. Please register as soon as possible so that we get a better idea about numbers of participants and can arrange the schedule accordingly.

See you soon in Wellington.

Cheers

Kristina

Hello Kristina.

Looking at the main pages I don't yet see any sort of programme for the two days.  Will there be time for Mahara users to network and see what others are doing (for example having a period where people working in similar areas could get together?)  Some of the initial proposals - while very interesting topics - do not link closely to how I'm currently using My Portfolio, and in those times I could see real advantages in having gathering spaces available where people could work together on mutual projects.

Cheers

Alan

Hello Alan,

As we are still accepting proposals until the end of today, we have not yet finalized the schedule. More un-conference like sessions are a possibility, and we'll update the site as soon as we have reviewed the proposals, confirmed presenters and created the schedule.

Cheers

Kristina

Hi Kristina,

Am I correct that you would like us to send you our presentations in pdf format? When would you like those by?
I'm looking forward to the conference!
Cheers-

Misty

Hello Misty, Thank you for your question. PDF would be ideal. We will have one computer running Windows (in Rangimarie 1 as the big conference room will require audio and speakers) whereas there will be a Linux laptop in Angus. LibreOffice is able to read PPT, but if someone has fancy transitions etc. that may not work out so well. We planned for 5 minutes of changing between presentations, and thus, a personal laptop can be hooked up if it works immediately.

In order to try things out beforehand, it would be great if we received presentation files by 17 March 2014. If you can't make that, giving them to me directly when you arrive would also be great.

CU soon

Kristina

Clarification - So preferably use Adobe presenter than a standard powerpoint? Working in a public sector so often use only what can be allowed by our IT unit but can certainly look at on my personal computer Also looking forward to the conference :)

Hello Louise,

Adobe Presenter? Never used it. I was thinking of exporting a PPT as PDF file. Nothing more. :-) You should be fine though, and if your PPT doesn't work on the computer, I can convert it.

Cheers
